Sailors, Swift and Torture.

Thursday I went saw DIY electro shock rockers Miss Pain supporting The Chap at Artrocker (Brighton).

The Miss Pain three have a new stage show with cardboard Jonathan Swift scale romance novels as a backdrop and sailor costumes (obviously…) Their last live date until the Autumn, the trio will retire to bolster the single campaign for their double A side Shelf Location ROM and Kiss Cuddle Torture (The latter being inspired by an Altered Images lyric that I seem to be the only person in the world to have spotted the reference to,) out on their Nylon! Friction! Label later this year.

Gorgeous analogue synths pepper this Roxy Music meets Le Tigre style love in. Definitely one for the 7 ” collection. Keep checking their MYSPACE for details of a formal release date.

If you message the band and ask very, very nicely and send them a cheque for the record and postage along with a recipe for vegetable hot pot whilst professing an un-dying love for Mills and Boon they may smile on you and send you an advance copy of the single on 7″.

In case you’re on the cusp; I grabbed a copy at the gig on Thursday and in addition to a delightful little synth pop gem I also found inside the sleeve a page from a romance novel…

Currently Kiss Cuddle Torture is available for free download on the band’s myspace. For your convenience I’ve popped the MP3 up here too.

Like it? There’s a whole host of Miss Pain goodies to get aquainted with on iTunes so get buying!

(Tracks are only intended for sampling purposes only and will only appear for a week from posting. Please support the artists by buying their work, you’ll only have yourself to blame if they give up touring for a more lucrative supermarket shelf stacking career.)

(If you are the artist or their management and you object to the track featuring here please contact me at xynthex [at sign] gmail.com and I shall remove it forthwith.)
